‘HOME’WARD BOUND: APRIL 2020

? If You Are Out a Job…

? Be ENCOURAGED!! ?

With millions of people being laid off during COVID-19, there is a possibility that some of you reading this newsletter today have already lost your job.  Or, maybe you still have a job, but the work has been slowing down, and the future looks grim.  If you are business owner like myself, you might be wondering how to sustain profits, feed your employees, and survive during the pandemic.  Wherever you find yourself, there is hope!

I want to give you three things to focus on during this incredible trial for our nation as it relates to employment.

  1. Remember: It’s Not Your Fault

This one is obvious.  We are in the midst of a pandemic.  This kind of thing hasn’t occurred in a century.  We have no control over it.  If you have lost your job due to the pandemic, you are not alone.  So many people are waking up to the same reality.  In light of that, let me encourage you not to take getting laid off personally!  Yes, it still hurts, and the lack of income is a hard pill to swallow, but this is not the end.  And, remember, it’s not your fault.

  1. Train Like It’s the Off-season!!

This is the most important thought I want to leave with you.  COVID-19 is not a prolonged vacation.  We don’t get the right to coast.  This is the time to hone your skill set, read books, and develop a consistent routine in the midst of lot of inconsistencies in the world.  If you will dedicate the time to becoming better during this forced professional furlough, when the opportunity for employment resurfaces, you will be locked and loaded – ready to crush it.  My friends, athletes do not let themselves go during the off-season and neither should you.

  1. Self Reflect

If this pandemic doesn’t make your self reflect, nothing probably will.  Now is your opportunity to reconsider your professional trajectory.  Are you finding yourself relieve not having to work?  Are you not missing your job at all?  Dread the idea of going back?  Pay attention to all of that!  If you are happier not working, it could be an indication that you were in the wrong role at work or, even possibly, the wrong industry.  I have scores of resources if you would like help getting clarity on this matter.  Please also feel free to call me directly to discuss 630 631 8600.

In conclusion, this is the beginning of a hard season for many.  The unemployment stemming from COVID-19 is staggering, but we don’t have to let it cripple us.  Take heart, it’s not your fault, train like the off-season, and take time to self reflect!!

Why I Support GRIP Outreach for YOUTH:

I first met Scott Grzesiak five years ago when I represented him in the purchase of a home. This friendship grew over time and, naturally, I came to hear of the awesome organization he leads: GRIP Outreach for Youth.

What I love about GRIP is that the Christian organization really does a phenomenal job mentoring high-school-aged youth. And, when I say “mentoring,” I mean stepping into their lives in a very personal way. GRIP’s staff and volunteers spend countless hours with the teenagers in their homes, schools, churches, and communities. Their goal is to break the fatherless cycle through Christ-centered, Life-on-Life relationships. The stories of transformed lives such as former gang members finding jobs, living productive lives, and even giving back to society, is truly astounding.

Being born and raised in Chicagoland, I take pride in supporting in any way that I can the good work these people do at GRIP. My team rallies around our annual goal of raising money and donating portions of our income to help high-school-aged youth in at-risk communities. My team and I are committed to providing outstanding results for buyers and sellers referred to us by our past clients. I have discovered that GRIP shares similar commitments to  Chicago’s youth. And, since their services survive on sponsorships and donations, we are happy to contribute and proud to support them.
